RESUME-
Born in 1947, I have spent most of my life working in art. For many years I was senior designer for Glassmasters, a New York City stained glass studio that designed original pieces for the gift trade and reproduced Tiffany and LaFarge windows for the Metropolitan Museum Of Art and the Boston Museum.
Influenced by the thriving New York art scene of the mid 1980's, I started working on a more personal level. By the end of the decade I moved to farmland in Upstate N.Y. where I currently live and continue to work.
I studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League and textile design at the Fashion Institute Of Technology, both in New York City. I have attended printmaking workshops at the Arts Center in Troy, N.Y. and at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
I am a member of the Valley Artisans Market. Valley Artisans is an artist's co-op storefront in the historic Hubbard Hall Building in Cambridge, N.Y.
I am also a member of the Guild Of Adirondack Artists. The GAA is a group of Upstate NY working artists who exhibit in the Northeast.
PROCESS-
I paint my image on a clear sheet of plexiglass with water color (and occasionally oil ) medium. When the plexiglass image is completely dry, I print it onto a piece of heavyweight dampened watercolor paper by running both the paper and the plexiglass through the etching press. The plexiglass image transfers onto the dampened paper, creating a monoprint. If I'm not completely satisfied with the first run, I'll quickly add additional color to the plexiglass and repeat the process before the paper dries.
ARTIST STATEMENT-
My work is strictly personal. I am always exploring layers, textures, space and containment within the boundaries of paper.
